Default Tank emblem removal

I have seen some posts about removing the tank emblem with fishing line, but mine has 3 screws holding it on. Any suggestions? other than just removing the screws. What is it screwed to? are there mounting holes on the tank?

Screws hold emblem to a backing plate. That plate is held on with adhesive. Read this thread for step-by-step instructions. HTH.

As said above, take the screws out, the emblem will come off and there will be a backing place that has double sided tape on it. THAT'S what you will need to remove with fishing line from the tank. If you plan to use it again, take it easy with the place, they bend really easy.

Blast it a little with a heat gun to soften up the tape and the line will go through like butter.

Thanks for the help. I was able to remove the emblem and clean behind it, that was the source of frustration. For now they are back on, but I figure since I messed with the tiny screws they will be falling out soon enough and I will go badgeless at that point. On another note, an old soft bristle toothbrush does great removing old wax around the other emblems and the one on the gas tank lid. Who knew the detail that was there 13 years ago.. I also tried the pledge with lemon trick, but must confess I like silicone glaze wax better. I had an old bottle of the amway stuff and it really was better than the mequires I tried first. Just gotta figure out how to get more since the bottle is like 15 years old.
