i'm not liking the look of the new tourpak and saddlebags myself. makes the bike look really big. and with them giving the passenger more room, it really hangs the tourpak off of the rear end of the bike.
i'm thinking that adding a new tourpak to an old bike is gonna overpower it. jmo. might think differently if i see it done

I guess it will be hard to tell until you actually see one. The chopped one I'm considering should go in my favor though. As far as the side bags I agree, I do not like the looks of them at all. Function, yes, but looks, no. I will not be doing the new bags.
So the new chopped will fit on a 2012 SG with the original bags? If so I will order one so it is ready when I get home from the sandbox when I paint. Or do you have to get the new bags as well so they will open?

Don't know why it wouldn't. I would have already ordered mine it the GOV hadn't have shut down! Now I don't want to spend the money on it in case this last awhile.

I'm with Craig, I would've ordered it already too but I'm not ready for paint. (Have other stuff to save for that will also need paint) I can't swear it'll fit but I'm confident enough it'll fit. Why wouldn't it? You would be using all mounting hardware from previous years so it'll mount at the same exact place as previous TP.
Very interesting thread. I looked at the different bikes side by side at a dealer for several minutes. I believe the '14 Tour paks will fit our older bikes if you use the detachable hardware for the older bikes. I think it will look good also. Maybe someday I'll try it. if I make mine detachable. I'm hoping somebody does this and takes pics along the way. I'd like to see it done as the donkey in the parts counter assured me it can't be done. They really need to train the help better at the local dealers around here.

It will work trust me. You just have to use the 14 detachable rack so it will fit/bolt to the box it's self. A guy already put and older style tour pack on his 14....why in the heck wouldn't it work the other way. You will use the docking points made for your bike. HD did not change the geometry of the docking points.
You just need to read this whole tread as all this has already been figured out. As soon as the GOV lets me go back to work all the parts will be ordered...then it will just be the waiting game till they get here. I'll post pictures.
