103 Using Oil
Doesn't sound way out of bounds to me.
results will vary greatly depending on how the machine is used, how it is broken in (piston ring seal)
operating conditions etc.
this is a tri glide after all- assume that the motor is working much harder..all the time
as long as the oil isnt migrating into the primary...just keep riding.

How do you figure that? My sporty never needs to be topped off and my heritage has never needed to be topped off when it was a 96 or 107.
Neither my 88 or 103 have needed topping off between changes; have used Mobile 1 or Syn3 since break in, and ride a lot 2 up in hot weather too. 88 has factory cooler since new, 103 has FCS and V-IED since break in. Hope they stay tight! For break in, I followed the factory instructions for the most part, did an oil change at 500 miles, and I also did a series of careful 3rd gear roll on's and roll off's with frequent cooling off periods, and no steady state cruising the first 750 miles. After 1K went to syn. Took a long time in each case, but I was enjoying it. Nothing like enjoying getting to know the new putt!

Again. Knowing all of the facts is critical. Could be a guy in AZ running 10w-40 , two up loaded down in 110 degrees. As I said it does sound high but what are the facts around it. For the first 1500 miles on my 103 I used over a half quart. Factory dino. Now red line 20w-50 and about a half quart in 5k.
