Fixed backrest removal ?

I installed an HD adjustable backrest on my SG and it pops on and off easily. My friend's electraglide classic has the HD fixed backrest on the stock seat. I looked at it last night in his driveway, but it was dark and I could not see how it comes on and off, before I go over today How do I remove it ? I need to be able to take it off and remove the seat. Thanks !

Reach down into the seat and squeeze the rods together and lift.

You can kind of get an idea of how it works from this picture.
