I have a CeeBaileys 6" recurve. They will make you any height you wish.
Hmmm....I actually called them a couple of weeks ago and asked if they could make me one and they told me that they couldn't make a 6" in a recurve. They were my first option after LRS, who also told me a 7" was the shortest they could make for me.
You know that sad part is that for the new fairings that vent didn't make as much a difference as thought based on how many of us still need to change out the stock shield. I mean, it has helped, but really minimally.

Don't what to tell you. I ordered a standard 7". I wanted it shorter, I returned it and they re-worked it to a 6" recurve at no charge. I love it now.

No worries. Like I said, I was able to get Freedom Shields to make me one and am very happy with it. I gave CeeBailey's the opportunity but they said no. Freedom Shields even has a 5" version of the recurve.
Hi Folks, I am purchasing a new Street Glide for 2014 and the dealer has no replacement windshields in stock for that particular bike I'm told. Has anyone seen any taller replacement windshields out there anywhere yet?
try LRS 'long ride shields', or several of the other aftermarket shields for the 14's. Just google windshileds for a harley. Most of the guys here have had good response and results from these aftermarket companies.
Buffeting is not so much the windshiled on the SG/S but turbulance from below. I have eliminated buffeting with HD fork mount deflectors.

Yeah, the air from below is what will drive you crazy. Try riding with your legs closed (knees against the tank) and you'll see what i'm talking about. The wind coming up around the tank is doing it.
