one thing you aren't taking into consideration is the abs and security. in 2013 you had to pay $1195 for that. in 2014, it is standard. so you are really only looking at a price difference of $255. for the radio alone, you are making out ahead.
Take a look at what they have also removed from the standard Ultra.
You no longer have a CB radio or bag rails or front fender bumper. Add those back in and refigure.
Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying the improvements aren't worth it to a new bike buyer with the dollars to spend....but my point is, the severely higher new base price can do nothing but drive up the value of used bikes, once the hype is over with. Especially in the private market.

Lol I went to see a 14 the other day! Nice bike but in all honesty I really don't even need a GPS & head unit on a motorcycle. I added a HD touring fan on mine & even sitting in traffic I'm never over 230 degrees on a hot day! At 9k miles & 10 G's n upgrades in mine a plain 2014 "special" FLHX looks like the ugly girl in the classroom parked next to my 2012 FLHX!
I just don't buy into the loss of market for our bikes. Im a firm believer that there are far more buyers that don't buy new retail price bikes. I can buy a couple year old low mile bike with lots of extras and still save 10k over the new bike. If you have the extra money great, but in this day and age many opt for used and are very happy with the choice.
Was in Starved Rock HD in Ottawa, IL and the sales manager wouldn't even let people "play" with the new 14 Limited sitting on the floor..... Basically was showing everybody the new features with the radio and ignoring the rest of the bike. Was telling people he MSRP was just under $29,000. He didn't like it when I called him on that, and had to prove the MSRP to him on my phone....... Really didn't like when I left saying f#%k this place.
I live right by Starved Rock HD in Ottawa and used to be a fan up until LY. I will NOT walk in that place today for ANYTHING!!! I will take a ride to Conrads before stepping foot in that place.......
I was gonna trade my 13 in when I bought mine . 100% perfect condition. The same place I bought it from offered me $17000.
Was almost fair but I still thought I was getting the shaft so the 13 is sitting in my shop right beside the 14
He didn't say anything hateful. Just that the new lineup keeps getting more expensive, with no entry level. So older bikes will be only alternative for lower cost entry level buyers. For some reason car manufacturers/motorcycle manufacturers aren't responding to the fact that many people are on a tight budget. Just market to high income people.
That part of my comment wasn't really geared toward him so much.
These numbers are a bit misleading. IIRC, the ultra classic has ABS and security standard now. The MSRP u listed for a 2013 is without ABS/sec.
Now factor in the daymakers which are standard on both bikes, the LED lighting in the rear and on the TK navigation, bassports, etc the price increase is more than justified, not even mentioning the parts specific to the MY 14 TK. I love all the hatred toward MoCo and dealerships in here.
I agree.. well said!! The moco is out there to make a profit. God forbid if Fuel Moto wants to make a profit.

Reason: Spelling
Got 16500 for my 2012 RKC with 40k on it. took all the extras off and they put them on My 2013 Ultra Limited And pay for 3 hr of labor
And 8 thousand Difference I was Happy
Too many of us still remember the good ole days of waiting lists for new bikes. I once sold a two year old Low Rider Custom for 12,500 that I originally bought for 10,000. Went to an Atlanta area dealer that I have bought several bikes from. They let me test ride a 14 SG - I loved it, but the trade value for my 10 RK was only 11,000. As much as I would really like to have that SG, I cannot bring myself to taking such a large hit on the trade right now. I will say that SG was a blast to ride.
I was shocked to see how the value has sunk on our bikes due to the new 14's.
As stated by one dealer everything else is Irrelevant, trade in value Is at an all time low dealers want us to believe there is no market for older bikes.
He started by saying no one is coming through those doors to look at your 2012, every one want's a 2014, I won't be able to sell your bike at a profit and then he offers me 12k for my 2012 SG with 9000 miles and tons of upgrades.
I literally turned around and walked out, he chased me and said wait I can give you an extra 500.00 for your bike. Total 12.5 for my bike.
Wait until late January. Remember all those folks who paid above list for PT cruisers when they first hit the showroom?
