Default Dealer Demo Days?

So.. one of the local dealers is having a demo day this coming weekend...

I am not in the market for a new bike (we've all heard that before! lol) but if they are going to offer free rides on some new models, hey, who am I to say no? lol

How do these things work? Am I going to get a hard sell pitch? Do they let you test out more than one model? Is it a ride around the parking lot, or do they let you really take it out for a spin?

Like I said, I'm not really interested in buying, it is just that I have nothing better to do this Saturday and if they are offering, then heck ya, I am going to go ride some new bikes!

TIA!

I've done this at my dealer it was group ride maybe 3-5 miles speeds not over 45-50. No sales people hassled me.

I've been on several demo rides at several dealerships. They don't use it as a way to sell bikes. The one's I have been to are run by the guy who drives the semi truck and they may use some of the local HOG chapter members to do lead and trail on the rides.

They normally have one of each model of bike and so on about a 10-14 mile ride. It is a lot of fun, but normally the wait to ride some of the more popular bikes can get a little long.

Cool

If it's a Harley-Davidson sponsored event (big truck & trailer) with all the current models it's not a big deal. You sign the usual damage waiver and ride whatever you want. You may not even encounter an employee of the dealership. The rides are usually "chaperoned" by a couple of Road Captains from the local H.O.G. Chapter. I understand that when the dealer does arrange for the big H-D demo truck it is not inexpensive as the dealer is charged by H-D for the whole affair.
When I asked the GM at my local dealer would be hosting the next event his response was....you don't need a "Demo Day", come in any day of the week and you can ride whatever you want anytime.

Depends if it's Corporate bikes (Harley brings a truck load), or dealers bikes. Corporate demo works like Focal said. I went to the International MC show , and you can take the bikes out on your own.

My dealer runs his own every Saturday. It's about a 10-15 mile ride too. Helmet and waiver are required.

Generally interesting, usually free food, occasionally free drinks. Hell, I'd go. Look around. maybe go on a ride, enjoy the day.
