My father in law just changed his jugs out to a 107 and only has about 1500 miles on his 103 jugs and pistons so im gonna switch mine on my 09 flhx to his old jugs. I have a couple of questions. first I notice that there is a 103 a and a 103b one for touring and one for softtail. Whats the difference. are the jugs and pistons the same. his bike is a 2013 heritage st. Second question is what all gaskets will I need to replace. Third the reason he changed jugs is because he changed cams out (not sure which ones) that needed high comp pistons he was getting blow by and the bike wouldnt run could that have damaged the rings enough for me to need to put new rings on it? Fourth is I see on the 103 bb kit it cokes with a hd clutch spring. he changed his out with one that came with the 107 kit can I just use his old clutch spring?
Thank yall in advance for helping me out.

B motor in softail has a balance shaft to lower vibrations with the solid motor mounts

Yes

Everything above the cases
Third the reason he changed jugs is because he changed cams out (not sure which ones) that needed high comp pistons he was getting blow by
Blow by means the rings are not sealing and need to be serviced
and the bike wouldnt run could that have damaged the rings enough for me to need to put new rings on it?
Just replacing the rings may not correct the problem. Time for an overbore and pistons.

You can use your stock spring but the clutch may slip depending how much power ya add and how hard ya run it.
Thank yall in advance for helping me out.
96 and 103 come stock with the same cams so yes ya can use your 96 cams.
While I get the temptation to throw some used 103 jugs and pistons in a 96 for cheap upgrade there actually is little to be gained with just those 7 cu in. Add some higher compression pistons, cams like your farther in law and maybe headwork, then ya got something!
