Yeah, you both can get a computer generated completion certificate....

"You may also complete the ride two-up (with one person doing the piloting, the other being a passenger the entire distance - you may not share piloting duties!). Someone is getting really rich on this deal.

46 riders completed a Saddlesore 1000 on 8/09/08, the day I did mine. At a MINIMUM of $45 a piece to be certified, that's $2070 for just that one day that someone made. The value of the items received, basically a paper certificate and a plastic license plate frame, was worth less than a buck. You pay extra to get a patch. Here's the fee schedule:

SaddleSore or Bun-Burner (complete package,
verification, pin, plate back and certificate)
(savings of $2.00) over individual pricing: $45.00

If you have completed both the SaddleSore 1000 and
Bun-Burner 1500 on the same ride, there are some savings
for us in postage and administrative costs that we can
pass on to you.

Additional certification (Bun-Burner with SaddleSore) $20.00

Additional SaddleSore ride pin if desired: $ 7.00

SaddleSore ride patch if desired: $ 7.75

Bun Burner ride patch if desired: $ 7.75

Additional Bun Burner ride pin if desired: $ 7.00

Additional World's Toughest Riders plate back if desired: $ 5.50

Additional copy of certificate if desired: $ 4.00

Great write up! Never ridden more than a 300 mile ride, but that will change this fall. Looking forward to putting some good touring miles on the bike!

Nice write up. I too turned 50 this year. Things have changed alot since the days we would throw a couple changes of cloths in our bags, toss them over our hard tails, check out tool bags, and if you were the cautious type check your tires; leave southern Mo. headed for Sturgis.

One thing I like to have no matter where I'm headed is a tire motioning system. what ever you want to spend. I love my "Ride On" system, backed up with an old fashioned good quality pressure gauge. When I'm going thru different temp changes, terrain etc. I like knowing whats going on under me!Blow outs make me need to carry more underwear! :-)

Speedometer error? I just did 3,720 mile 6 day ride (620/day av.) up into and across 2 Canadian Provinces and down into Montana, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa and back to Illinois. The trip B that I set at zero on the start was 3,720.

Checked on MapQuest and it totaled 3,720. Hmm.

Stock seat, stock undies, jeans and no other considerations. Just do it and ride. Longest day 818 and the shortest was 417.

Compression shorts from a sporting goods store work well too.
Baggy jeans, mesh jacket, long sleeves...all good..
