Reckless Fairing buying question
A three wire deltran connector makes connection easy and tucks away when not in use. I take off my windshield, replace the rubber windshield grommets with their metal ones, turn out the passing lamps, ease the fairing in the lowers, tilt back into the upper mounts, tighten, adjust the passing lamps, plug the power in, ready to ride. The gap around the nacelle and fork areas are small and even. The mount is solid and substantial. It really is a well designed fairing, one man job to take on/off, maybe 10 minutes once familiar with it. I remember they insisted on numbers on the 'King - they said some people have been known to get their colors mixed up on their paint. No problem.
I have heard folks say "Once you put that fairing on there, you won't take it off". Not me. It extends my riding season in cooler temps, and makes interstate travel a bit better. The 9" LRS Elite Recurve was the icing on the cake and I am set for cooler fall/winter rides.
Versatility is a great option for Road Kings, and when I decided to look into fairings, I looked far and wide for a while. To each their own, I have no regrets.
BTW - Some time later, I called Reckless about a remote for the Infinity Unit (The paperwork mentioned one was available - garage play, what the heck! ). He said He could get me one, but advised against it, said it was over a hundred dollars! He suggested I talk to a Best Buy Geek, and find a universal replacement remote for under $20, which I did.
Not bad folks to me! YMMV...
I can't believe the difference a fairing makes in riding comfort. I took some pics with the 5" smoked windshield and then I installed the 8" clear windshield for more comfort.
It took me about 2hrs. to install the hardest part was figuring on how to run the wiring. Ended up running the wires under the guage nacell on top of the tank.
