What is your MPG?
I can tell you that the difference between 60 mph and 80 mph is dramatic on your MPG, I see 7 or more mpg difference in my car. Also, each time you blip the throttle you're injecting quite a bit of gas so that will make a difference. And start and stop makes a huge difference too.
Point is, your driving style dramatically affects your MPG. Those hypermilers in the Prius world like to never use the accelerator nor brake...momentum driving gets max mileage, and keeping it 55 mph or under has a huge effect.
If you drive steady state at 60-65 and have a steady throttle hand, you're going to get good mileage. If you drive 75-80 on the same road but vary your speeds and gun it from time to time, you'll get 5-7 mpg less I'd estimate.
I chalk that up to them being newer bikes. That is the trend I see in this. Newer bikes may have been set up to get better milage than our older bikes.
