a friend of mines 99 dresser just quit on him, tried different module and coil with no luck. what to try next cam sensor or crank sensor? any other ideas?
if the bike died while running and the lights etc stayed on, check the tip over switch- the bracket on those is known to crack and break, leaving the switch dangling on the wires.
on most models it is inboard of the ign. module, above the swingarm
that model is also subject to the ign switch contacts burning out- usually it will display as having to wiggle the switch to get it to work- before it fails completely...esp. if high watt bulbs are used up front
started up and ran for maybe 10 feet and just quit, no spark. looking at tip over switch now. getting no codes out of it either. my money is on the crank sensor, but trying not to just throw parts at it.
Seems like there was an issue with the main circuit breaker in ’99 and '00 models. Take a look at that...if I remember correctly the remedy was a 50 amp breaker to replace the 40 amp.
