I'm suspecting a good amount of carbon build up in my 2007 RK Classic combustion chambers, with suspected pinging possibly from it......
When I look into the plug hole, I do see a good bit of black on the top of the pistons. Of course the field of vision is very small, but it is black.
My question is two fold,
1)Can the old trick of using water sprayed into the intake be performed on a fuel injected motor?
2)Is it okay to this on an Aluminum head and jug setup as the TC's are?
I have done this on my Iron Sportster, and,for the most part, it did work with no bad repercussions.
I don't want to take a chance with this motor,as it is way more expensive and in depth to repair, than an Ironhead Sporty.
Thanks for any information on this matter.
But before you do that, borrow a borescope and take a real good look. You might not have the buildup you think you do. Also be damned careful with water or anything else. Too much and you could hydraulic lock the engine. Seen it happen.
seafoam in gas tank would help a lot. So would running through the gears every now and again!!
Thanks chainsaw.
I do run seafoam thru my bikes every so often and I run thru the gears more often than not. Just can't help bustin' her loose when the time and space is right.
Wish I would have bought a stockpile of seafoam when it was fairly inexpensive.
Another member here mentioned Chevron techron, which I may try as well.

I use a squirt bottle. No hydro lock then. Good idea with the borescope though.

Thanks dribble,
I'll take a better look and will also take an easy approach with any H2O spraying of the intake.
Is your bike stock? Could be it needs a tune my 07 pinged baaad with only 8k miles was all in the tuning. You did not mention your mileage. Why would you try to remove carbon but not know its there get a scope. Relocate your breathers!
