Do I need a tuner?
You would really benefit from understanding what makes for a good tune. And the basis for any tune is properly setting the VE's for your specific hard configuration. Without accurate VE's, all other parameters are just guess work at any price.
You would also be way ahead of the game to know that there are various tuning devices and not all will provide for a good tuning experience. Some do nothing more then add fuel whether or not a cell needs it. Others are full-featured programs allowing access to other tables for a complete tune.
Lastly, not everyone uses the same terms or applies the same definitions. Some people focus on WOT tunes so they can impress others with big numbers. Unfortunately, many of those tunes run like crap for everyday riding and are just about useless for anything other then drag races.
But hey, it's your bike, money, and time. Whether the bike ends up running great or like crap, it's still your bike, money, and time.
Good luck!
