I am picking up my 14 SG next week and I am getting the VH pro pipe with the performance baffle and a heavy breather. Would I need to get a tuner, or will the stock map be good enough to make the bike run fine as-is? I don't want suggestions on which tuner...just asking if I need one or if I should put that money toward a color matched inner fairing!?
you WILL need at least a stg 1 down load. a tuner with auto tune feature would be a better choice but more $$$ I started with the stg1 down load then went tuner.
It will run but will be raven more lean than from the factory. So it will run hotter and worse mpg than if it had a tuner.
IMO stay away from throwing your money away with a stage 1 download. It will not add any fuel it will adjust your timing and change the redline. But the bike will still be EPA compliment and lean.
We all have our favorite tuners but go with what your mechanic or you will be comfortable using and if you decide you want sound advice call Jamie at fuel Moto and discuss your needs
