The biggest difference in my opinion is wind noise. Know that you are going to get More noise with modular.

I have an 09 Street Glide with a 7" Harley Wing Splitter. I'm 5'9" and have been wearing a Shoei Multitec Modular helmet with a pinlock visor for the past 2 years. There is some wind noise with this helmet as will be with most modular helmets. I have minimum buffeting and can still hear my stereo at 65 mph. Good luck with your search and ride safe!!

I vote for a modular. I have a Bell revolver Evo and a Lazer Monaco and both work great and I don't experience much wind buffeting at all.

Modular. Just too convenient. I have the Harley by HJC. The one with the secondary tinted visor. On the really sunny days I can put down the inner, tinted visor in addition to the main, outer, clear visor. @ $189.oo

They are also heavier. I have a Symax II that I used on my Dyna. When I got my SG and put a 9" LRS windshield on it I didn't feel I needed the full face any longer. Switched to a 3/4 Bell Custom and use a flip down face shield when it rains or gets really cold. The Bell weighs less than half of the HJC and after a 5 or 6 hundred mile day my neck was really hurting with the HJC but not with the Bell. Of course, you aren't getting the same protection but it seems like everything in life requires some tradeoff these days

A Shoei dealer once told me; $89 head, $89 helmet. You get what you pay for.........You guys are riding $20k to $30k bikes........

I place a lot more value on my head; http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/s...-c3-pro-helmet

I've got a Fulmer modular that I like really well. I also have a Gmax 1/2 helmet that I like better than any helmet I've ever owned. So the next one, a modular because the Doc says no more sun, might well be the Gmax. For those of you knocking the cheaper helmets, there are studies out there, I've posted the links before, that say, among other things, that the cheaper helmets protect just as good, and sometimes better, than the high dollar helmets. Course a guy has to buy a helmet he can trust. So, if spending big bucks makes you feel safer, go for it. I would spend more money for comfort, but the higher dollar helmets don't protect your head any better than the cheaper helmets do. I have reached that opinion from reading the reports mentioned above, and working a whole bunch of motorcycle accidents. JMHO..............Ride Safe!
