I ordered the HD parts below to put the 2013 Police Solo Seat on a 2014 FLHXS. The new seat suspension has a coil over shock in place of the old air bladder system. Been riding an FLHTPI the past 10 years. The new bike should be here in a couple weeks.
Dude, I am with you 100%. Police seat is the most comfortable of them all. If I was getting a new bike I would be doing exactly the same thing. And I think, JMHO, police seat is a very good looking seat especially if you mount Utopia Police Backrest. Enjoy it in good health!
The new 2014 FLHXS has Harley's best rear shocks from the factory, however, rear suspension travel is only 2.13 inches. I'm sure the new coil-over-shock seat suspension will smooth the ride considerably.
A great seat... I rode the EG police bike for hours with no fatigue with the seat. Also, some of us with elevate the rear of the seat an inch with a couple of bolts and nuts to keep you leaning forward... much more comfortable this way.
Thank you Hulkss for the link. Couple of years ago I replaced my bladder with dog kong and it works better than air system (see attachment). I also posted picture of attachment of Utopia back rest and my bike with it on.
Back rest is fully adjustable and very comfortable. I am sure you gona love it!
Does harley sell new police seats? Or should I look for a take off? I'm gonna be putting a solo on my bike and the police air ride seat would be awesome
Thanks for the info, please keep us updated. My air bladder starts loosing air after I rode 44000 km, so I am looking to replace it with a spring.
Also thinking of replacing my '09 FLHTP with '14 Road King, so will be in search for a better seat.
Why didnt you buy a '14 police bike? I see them available at several dealers.
I swapped my air spring for the 2013 coil-over setup last Spring. I believe that it is a significant improvement over the air spring. I'm with you on the police solo seat - very comfortable.
I bought my stuff as brand new "take off" parts off of eBay for $100 plus shipping. That was everything except for the seat itself - air spring and T-bracket. It bolted on in place of the air spring in about 15 minutes. The updated t-bracket bolted right to the 2010 seat no problem.
