Service manual says that Swingarm Bearing Installer (HD-45327) is used the set the brake side bearing to the right depth. Can this be done accurately enough by measuring the depth of the existing bearing? Basically wondering if the bearings can be installed without this tool?
No need for special tools other than what is required to remove and install a bearing normally. The bearing has an insert pressed into it.. it is pressed completely into the bearing until it stops. The bearing with sleeve then is pressed or drawn into the swingarm until it is tight to the stop inside the arm. It cannot be installed too deep, and MUST be installed to the machined stop in the swingarm.
Really, it is a simple process for most who have basic tools, some threaded rod, a few sockets, a vise, and a press if you really want (but not needed)

Just got off the phone with HCI Supply and ordered my Aurora GE 25ET-2RS rear swing arm bearings and while I was talking to Jenni which is the out of state and e-bay sales lady she informed me that these were indeed the new bearings for the new model HD's wasn't completely sure if these were going to replace all the inferior bearings used in the past but one would think they would be changed to a better bearing...
Shes going to consider going to her boss and get a large number of these bearings if there is interest out there...
I got mine for $38.00 plus shipping...so @$19.00 each FFT
