Default My MiniBeast Died!

A couple of days ago I pressed the horn button on my Ultra but no sound came from the Beast.I tried to gently tap the oval shell but still nothing happened.Total silence,I called ProPad and the kind lady on the other side informed me that my warrantee had just expired this past Aug.She told me to check the relay and then the fuse, now being the ignorant that I am (mechanically) I wouldn't know what to look for nor where.Has anybody had the same experience with this horn, any suggestion? Thanks

Check the fuses under your side cover

Only 1 blue pill because you had a "mini"beast,I would need more than that!

According to their website, no extra relay or fuse would be needed for the standard mini beast. You would need it if you upgraded to air hornversion. The compressor for an air horn will fry the horn switch without a relay. If it was installed extra, it would probably be under the seat or near the battery.

If you are not very mechanical, it would be easier to just replace relay if there is one, rather than test it. They are very cheap. Fuse would be the first check.

I was thinking of getting one of these. Is this the only problem you have had with it?

Had mine for so many years they no longer make that model. Had the mount inside break this summer. Way out of warrenty, and no parts available. Will be in the market for a new one next spring. I stuffed paper around the inside of the horn case to keep it from rattling around.

So horn not working ... This is likely a wiring issue or fuse as stated. Who installed it for you? They will know where they put the fuse.

The mini-beast uses the stock relay wiring, but adds a new wire back to the battery to power it.

I would bet it is under your seat near the battery. A wire was probably run from the battery to the horn. Near the battery is a rubber plug looking thing that has a flip up cover on it. Under that cover is the fuse. If you have other wired accessories, there may be more than one fuse under there. A good example would be if you have a battery tender pig tail going to the battery also.

If the fuse is good, start following the wires down to the horn. It may have gotten damaged and is broken. If you find a stretched spot or obvious broken spot, it needs to be wired back together.

If the fuse is blown and you replace it only to have it blow again, either right away, or a day or so later, there is a bare wire somewhere. The wire may be rubbing against something and the jacket is worn. Follow the wire again and look for a spot where it is worn. Tape it up and change something to make it not rub on what ever it was rubbing on.

A few years ago on the road I had that problem. I found the spot but didn't have electrical tape with me. But ... I did have a balloon and some rubber bands. So, I wrapped it in the balloon and tied the rubber bands around that to keep it all in place. Worked so well it was a year later before I bothered to put electrical tape on it instead.

As for the relay, that is the stock relay. It is under one of the side covers. It should be labled as the horn relay somehow. If not, start tapping on all the relays (tiny boxes) while pressing the horn button. It might start working. If not, you will need to look up somewhere which relay it is to try replacing it.

my pro-pad mini-beast came with a relay and a fused wire as the stock harley wiring is not enough to carry the amount of current required to "toot" your horn.

follow the black wire running from the horn to the area under your seat and you're sure to find your issue.
