Trade in blues
** this went longer than intended. I'll let it fly just in case you get something from it **
Anyway ... We have our first kid coming in January. I have been toying with the idea of something bigger than a softie. Ultimately, after discussing it with my much smarter than me wife, we decided ... Ok, she put down: "If you want a new bike, you better get it now, and get a brand new one so it will last a while. Let's get one that will be under warranty while the kid is young. So, as long as you can do it, and keep the payment the same as we have budgeted now ... Go get whatever you want.".
I found exactly what I wanted, managed to make a deal, and play within the rules. I'm crazy happy with my new bike. It will grow waaaay past what my Fatboy would have been suited for. Homer, if you want the new bike, that's step one. After that, as long as it isn't going to screw the priorities of taking care of your family and responsibilities ... Go for it. If your wife and kids are going to have to ramen noodles and scrambled eggs just for you to have a new bike, stop now.
Ultimately, if its not going to harm anything, what's it gonna hurt? - Vic
If you can afford it, go ahead and do it. It's your money, your decision. We don't pay your bills.

I remember when a Harley with bags and a shield was a "full dresser". And even today that is still my image of a dresser. So a RK with bags and a shield will always be more than enough for me.
Back in the day full dressers were looked down upon with a sneer by most riders and called "garbage wagons". That is until there was a long trip planned and your buds with the sleek bikes that made fun of your wagon were asking to stow gear on your bike. Then you could have the pleasure of telling them to F*** off!
