Super Confused
I've decided ill put the headers and intake on and all of that stuff. Just still not sure about this tuner thing. I'm pretty good w PC's and stuff like that. Just don't want to blow my motor up.
You can do all that stuff (lots of motorwork) and you still aren't going to make it fast. Its a tank. There is an inverse relationship between horsepower and speed vs reliability, direct relationship vs money. Your other bikes probably had more power and weighed 1/3 as much.
I'm a former sport bike guy. I like to ride my bike fast (relative to this bike) and its fun but I have no trouble hanging with anybody I have ever ridden with on a Harley (except out of the hole) and many of them have spent a lot of money on their motors. I have never done anything other than a well tuned stage 1. I am another Fuelmoto customer.
I have purchased a number of other items, and want to make sure that I am making the right decision. I read a lot of stuff on here, with regards to the way to do this. Here is what I have purchased thus far, as I am looking for opinions on whether this will work and what I have to do to get it setup.
1. Vance and Hines Fishtail exhaust
2. Vance and Hines Dual Dresseer Headers
3. Screamin Eagle Stage 1 Air Cleaner Kit
4. Screamin Eagle Round K&N filter
5. Screamin EagleŽ Pro Super Tuner - 32109-08C
So.....my thoughts were to have this for now, and as I add stuff like cams, big bore kit, etc... the super tuner thing could be updated? YES, it can re tune
A couple of questions:
Can I install all of this stuff myself and then drive the bike to the dealer to have him tune it? Can the dealer tune it better than you, then yes you can
Is that a stupid idea? Maybe, but do not know what you are capable of. Maybe you should not even attach anything, OR maybe you should learn to do it all including the tuning
Do I need to dyno the bike with this stuff? Need to, NO. If you took it to the dealer with everything installed, super tuner in hand, for them to tune, then YES let them do it on the dyno. The super tuner is designed to be used by you on the street to save some $$. why would you pay the dealer to ride your bike around while collecting data to update the tune.
Is this overkill? NO, overkill would be ..... never mind
Thanks in advance!
