Default clutch replacement question

I did a search and so far cannot find the answer I am looking for.

I got in my new Magnum Sheilds clutch cable and I wanted to know when others have changed out their clutch cable, what are some things I need to take in mind while doing this? anything to avoid? Does anyone know the amount of fluid I need to replace? other then draining with the same amount plus a hair more?

As always, your help is greatly appreciated. Will post pics soon of all the Mods I have done lately with the Street Glide.

If you keep the Glide on the side stand you won't lose a great amount of trans oil. If you have enough miles on it, you may consider just changing the oil completely. Have a new O-ring at hand to replace the one on the old cable, not sure if the new cable comes with one. Detach the side cover first, disassemble the release ramps, then spin it off the cable. Its a pretty straight forward job, the worst part is having to remove the pipes in order to get to it.

I drained mine to be safe and because it's only one qt. Pretty straight forward job and the new clutch cable works great. Have had mine issue free for over three years.

after all the heavy torquing and looseneing;
roll the tires up on a 2x4, put bike on jiffy stand- check that it is stable.

and pull the tranny end cover ( 'trap door")

you won't spill more than a tablespoon

buy all your seals and gaskets first

Yeah that^^^
Tranny cover can be removed without removing exhaust(depending on exhaust your running) and your patience level.
Also you don't have to completely disassemble the inner ramp. Rotate the assembly forward by hand. Using a pair of need nose pliers rotate the cable head 180* and it'll pop right out. To do it this way cable must first be released from clutch perch and the cable adj screwed all the way in to get all the slack in the cable that's available.

I did not have to remove head pipe on a 2011 with the Jackpot 2-1-2 pipe. Its collector is just enough smaller than stock that you can get to the bolts with long round end hex wrench's. Did have to remove heat shields. Also I noticed while doing mine the threads on the clutch cable attachment to the trans cover are at an odd angle and pretty soft metal so be careful with that.

put a easy pull on mine and the worst part I thought was getting the cable threaded back in the housing , be careful not to cross thread the cable , it is at a weird angle , not straight in
