While most don't want to needlessly spend money, there's a lot to be said for the quality of both parts and labor. And the differences can be significant. One shop might measure with a high quality micrometer and another with an old, worn out tape measure.

If you're really needing to go as inexpensive as you can, might want to check with a local high school or trade school and offer your bike as a project.

But before you spend a dime, make sure you know the specs on that crank. Hate to put any money into a build only to find out first time on the dyno that the crank won't hold.

I went cheap. Found a HD stage 2 103 kit on ebay for $600. Sold the A/C and 255 cams for $300. Ebay Andrews 54 cams for $235. Did have heads machined for ARCs for $250. ARCs, Cam bearings, breathers and SE tapered push rods were another $250 and Powercomamder around $350. Labor was $600. So around $2000 plus $300 dyno tune. 99hp/109tq. OK not so cheap??? Now thinking about headwork and putting power vision on... but that just brings up the crank problems?

Not much difference between a103/107, i prefer cast pistons to forged unless you ar going to beat on your engine. Get a set of HD cast 103 pistons and bore your jugs . Get your heads done and the am of your choice ......

I have a HQs 107 for 40k miles not one problem - there is a noticeable difference in a 103 vs. 107 - I have had both -

Fuelmoto has done the Homework on this... and the proper tune for it as well.
You can even install the kit yourself and save a few bones.

Thanks for all the input. I am just looking into all options right now. First thing I will do is check the crank run out. Then go from there.
I put a HQ107 in a streetglide a few yrs ago. I'm sure if I part things around I can do it cheaper than what that cost was. But the wrnech will be thrown in if the runout is bad.
This is for a 2007 roadglide, and the 07's are the worse about bad cranks. I have read they beefed up the tightness for the 08 and later 96's

Unless you are ready to do the build yourself, I'd recommend FM as well. I ended up spending about $100 for each hp and lb of torque gained. $3,000 gained 30 hp/tq. 105/125. Drive to WI and back was awesome as well.

Yeah Ben I will be doing all wrenching myself. So I will save $ there but I'm looking to save money are parts and pieces. I'm still waiting for cold weather to set in here in South Carolina so it may be December before I take it apart.

I've talked with several builders to see what each one would do and have gotten a different build from each. Everyone has there own style and idea but they all pretty well have the same result. More power.
