Turn cable adjuster away from jam nut until slack is eliminated at hand lever. Pull clutch cable ferrule away from clutch lever bracket to check free play.
Turn cable adjuster as nessacary to obtain 1/16 to 1/8 inch free play between cable ferrule and clutch lever bracket
So grab a rule, go out and pull the ferrule away and measure it.
[sm=smiley20.gif]........thanks again! You're alright, I don't care WHAT choo choo says about you.[sm=joke.gif][sm=escape.gif]
That will adjust the lever, you should have about a 1/8 inch free play when adjusted right.
[sm=ummmmokay.gif]Will it movethe engagement of the clutch closer to the gripor just add play in the clutch lever?
Im going by what the pic you showed of the cable adjuster on the down tube in your post, this will adjust the lever, you can have a properly adjusted clutch( ceter adj. screw under large primary cover) and still have a bad adjustment at the lever, if once you get the free play at the lever set and it isnt like you want it I would return it to the dealer to have it set, since you just paid for it to be done right.
Welp GR, you were correct. I adjusted the cable adjuster in the pic 1 full turn backoff and gave it 1/8th play as SteelCityScooter stated and BINGO! The bike rolls after the clutch comes about an inch off the grip like it supposed to. Guess the clutch itself was adjusted ok, but needed a tweak on the adjuster cable like you stated. Thanks a million guys, this was bugging the crud out of me.
