when you go to the dealership and they have those demo ones on a stand, do they let you try them on your bike and go for a ride? is that what they are for?
I stopped by the dealer yesterday, and yes, that is exactly what they're for. I will give them a try and report back.....whenever I get my bike from Milwaukee, that is
My A$$hole opinion...if you want "wind in the face" you bought the wrong bike (FLHX). Should've went with non-fairing touring...adding any shield to your Street Glide will (1) shake the hell out of your head or (2) block wind from your face. Again, just my A$$hole opinion...
...naaaah. Already got a RK, just saved enough to buy a long-haul tourer.
I agree, the fairing will cut down a little, but not eliminate the wind. I was just wondering after reading about the new fairings if the wind was gonna suck the skid lid off my head with the current windshield.
I sent them an inquiry yesterday morning thru their website and have not received a reply yet. I told them I felt I needed about 2 more inches of windshield over the stock height and asked if I should order a 6" or 7" to get the 2 inches.
Hopefully I'll hear from them.
My dealer is getting a 6 & 7 inch windvest in the next few days, they will let me try both and I will see which one works the best, I will report how it goes.

Please keep me posted.
I did receive a nice reply to my inquiry from the Windvest president. The stock windshield is surprisingly good for me (non buffeting) but just a little less wind around my ears would probably help with whatever audio I am listening to.
I know what they say.....opinions are like *ssholes.....everyones got one and they all stink, but I need some opinions for what you new SG owners are using for windshields. I'm a wind in the face guy......don't put the windshield on my RK until it gets too effin' cold. But going to the bat wing and its aerodynamic "improvements". Not sure what windscreen to put on. Stock? Windsplitter? LRS?. I'm 6'3'', and I don't want all that buffeting from the new vent whacking me in the helmet doing 80 down the freeway, but I still want some cool breeze when I'm hitting the twisties.
I have the 7" windsplitter on my 07 Ultra Classic. Works good and allow some wind in your face. I am like you and like clear view ahead of me. I just bought a new 2014 FLHXS and installed a 7" windsplitter. The stock one is okay, but too low for me and Texas road conditions. No buffeting at all at high speeds (above 70+). Typical of MOCO, they made the 14 different (bolt holes) for the windshields.
