Default '08 SG high idle issues

This is the scenario: I start my bike cold, and it goes straight to 2k-2200rpm. Once it warms up, I'm looking at 1800rpm average. I've replaced the seals on my intake manifold a couple times (first time I tightened the flanges all the way to the head). The flanges are bent a little, but by a little, I mean MAYBE a mm or 2. Now when I'm riding, I can push the throttle back the opposite direction and the idle drops to around 1200. Going to attack it tomorrow with a can of brake cleaner to see if there's a leak at the head/manifold point. Is there anything else I should look at? Would cleaning the IAC make a difference? I read in one of the other threads that that's only an issue with the '07 and older.

Also, I'm getting "no compression front and rear" codes, and other assorted ones. I'll update the thread tomorrow with the exact codes.

ALSO, my cruise control has stopped working. I'm thinking a trip to the dreaded DEALERRRRRRRRR (MWAHAHAHAAAA! *thunder clap*)

Any help would be really appreciated.

1. reset the throttle sensor.

rt hand, ign on- wait until pump primes...ign off

repeat x 4

DO NOT touch throttle when doing this

2.) DO NOT USE BRAKE CLEANER at the intake- if it has chlorine and you are in a small garage, then you'll know how my Grandfather felt when he got gassed in WWI.
really, it can kill you.

3.) check that your brake light switches are functioning properly- if not the CC won't work.

list any mods to the bike, or is it completely stock?

I assume by "rt hand" you're telling me to use my right hand so I'm not tempted to touch the throttle? Good thought. Thanks.

I work in my back alley. I pull the bike out of the garage before doing any work to it. Don't mind the cold.

Brake light switches: Haven't thought to check those. I assume just check that the brake light comes on when I press the brakes?

And, just for the record, I have cleared out the codes, but after running the engine for 10-20 mins, they come back.

codes: are you using "performance spark plugs" ?

there is an ion sensor which is easily confused if other than stock spec plugs are used.

Yeah, NGK plugs. What would be the fix?

A set of plugs from the stealer or the equivalent Champion plug from your auto parts dealer.

So the plugs are setting off the codes and the high idle? Or just the codes?

You need to look up the codes to see what they lead you to. I would preform the throttle reset first. If after doing the reset, try to see if you can find any leaks in the intake system. Then change out the plugs to an ion sensing system compatible plug.
