I will never get rid of my 04 FLHTCUI. I have it set up perfect for me. I won't entertain the idea until I get the very last mile I can out of it. Then it will be put in the garage and kept.
I am not even crazy about the looks of the 14s. It sounds like they have plenty of issues and someone is going to kill themselves with the big touch screen. They are stating to look like a Victory or something with the rounded edges. Not a big fan yet.
I can understand the pre 09's to a 14 but 09 and on man that is a big hit no matter how you cut it!
Why? What's to understand? I have a 06 FLHX. Not getting rid of it anytime soon.
There is absolutely no reason to get rid of it .
And dont start with the new frame bullshit. The only reason they came out with a new frame was to cut cost by having a common frame for the trikes. The rear end of the new frame is bolted on and can be swapped out for the trike rear.
My 13 Limited is still the nicest bike that I've ever owned so I guess I don't know what I'm missing. It just works for me It's a great commuter, weekend joy rider or long haul tourer. The stage one 103 has plenty of power and I've just about got the heat issue beat with a de-catted head pipe,VIEDs,tank lift and highway pegs.I may go with fans later but it's winter and less heat is not really what I'm looking for these days.I have the 09+ frame and this bike handles way better than any 900lb bike should.I do like some of the features of the new bikes the saddle bag lids the vent and the infotainment/GPS but these are things I can live without for awhile.

That's an interesting take on the reason for the new frame...I know that the new frame is said to eliminate squirming thru the turns that the old frame was known for, and I honestly believed THAT was the reason for it...
I'm with you on keeping the older bike. There are enough ways to fix the deficiencies on these...upgraded hydraulic cam follower system + upgraded oil pump or gear drive...Tour Link to eliminate the squirm... over spending big bux to buy the latest and greatest. When it wears out, rebuild it. That's what we do with Harleys.
