Default Advice on new bike.

I would like advice on whether to modify my new ride ( v & h true duals, monster rounds and hd race tuner) before I take delivery, or break it in stock and then do the mods. All opinions are welcome- Thanks

Do you want to void your warranty before you take it home? The mufflers wont void the warranty but anything labeled as "Off road use only" like the true duels and race tuner will.

i would do what the dealer recommends...probably leave it stock till 1k service and then let dealer install your accessories.

Shouldn't matter. Do what makes you happy.

Consider breaking-in the bike and riding it stock for a few thousand miles. Then, if you are unsatisfied with anything, you can at that time carefully decide what you want to do. This way, you will be better able to realize and feel the changes in your bike as you go, versus stock.

As for the warranty, dealers approach that differently. Some will add a stage I and will continue to honor your warranty. This is usually because you buy the parts and install service from them. Other, less progressive, dealers will be risky and may potentially give you warranty problems.

The SE race tuner is certainly one way to go for fuel management,I had one, but in my opinion, the Power Vision is the best if you want to tinker or just use a canned map for your engine size and bolted on hardware. And of course you will save money and be your own boss on how your bike is tuned.

Its a good idea to learn how to work on your own bike. That involves a service manual at the least, a parts and an electrical diagnostics manual if you can get them, and the proper tools. There are videos on youtube and info on here and other forums that will walk you through just about anything you will ever want to do with your bike.

Finally, don't get sucked-in to the peer pressure of automatically changing away from stock. Ride your own ride and do your thing. ***** what everyone else does!

I have a '14 Limited. Frankly, despite my preconceived viewpoint, it doesn't 'need' modification.

I'm glad I left it stock at the time I bought it. I've since left it that way. I haven't even done a stage 1. Doesn't need it, imo. And the exhaust has a nice rumble when on it. Bike doesn't seem lean and is faster than previous 103 with a stage one.

I may upgrade the speakers and put in an amp at some point. But that's just so I can better hear tunes at 85 mph+. The stock radio/speaker is better than the older version, so dunno.

break in stock then when you mod you enjoy the dif. also, the '14's are pretty rad stock vis a vis power sound and performance. Me I may add mufflers but thats it ( I hope).

I waited till about 1k.. Not saying it was necessary, but that's what I did. My Indy said there was no benefit to waiting and it was up to me when I wanted to mod, and I trust that guy.
