I have a very good paying job, but I am not a RUB.
But, I am rich, meaning....I have my health, wife & kids health, and a wife who says "If you're spending big money it better have wheels & make noise". Top that!
But, "Rich" is notbest defined by income. Due to nutso consumer marketing, dangerous mortgage and loan giving standards and our "gotta-have-that-today" society, a huge number of people/families are one-paycheck away from disaster or even bankruptcy.
Rich is best defined as Net Worth: It is allyour assets at a realistic market value less all debts and near term obligations. And from the assets you should really reduce them by the value of the assets it takes to just subsist (housing, clothes, pots and pans, a chair to sit on, basic transportation). And, on that basis of measuring "Rich", it's incredible how many folks earning $a half million or more per year havezero or even negative Net Worth. Merrill Lynch estimates there are only 7 million people in the world who have a Net Worth of more than $1 million. And that $1 million, if in place at a normal retirement age, could produce a retirement income of about $50,000. or so per year.
RICH as in R.U.B. is being able to drop 15- 20K on a toy. Even if its on credit.
Well I have dropped more than that on a few toys, and I am not wealthy by no streach of the imagination.
But I am "rich" because I live a full life, have my health, have my family, and have some real good friends.
Thats why I laugh everytime I see a RUB post, and the idiots that take offense to being called a RUB.
Hell, if you are a real biker, your a RUB, because you too are "Rich" with the knowledge and experianceof what riding is all about.
And to answer the poll, Money ain't nothing but a thing.
