RKC has a valid point.......for RKC. Because you agree makes it valid for you, NOT necessarily for everyone or anyone else. Why do some people think that they have the answers for everyone.
To answer the OP, I did exactly this. FM 107 upgrade at 42K miles on the bike. Already had cams and PCV in the bike, but I hads no problem with doing motor work with this many miles. I did my research and I checked the run out when I tore it down to make sure I shouldn't be doing any low end work on the motor. If you are interested in doing it I see no reason to balk at it.
Someone stated they don't get people doing this and why not leave it stock.
My answer...Because I can!!! I like working on the bike almost as much as I like riding it. Plus the added power is great, I agree if I wanted a perfromance bike I would buy something like a Ducati, but that wasn't what I was looking for. I wanted more 2-up power for touring, plain and simple. Same reason I chipped my 2005 Dodge Ram Cummins, needed more hill pulling power when towing my 14,000 lB 5th wheel.
