Default Is this a good price....

Hi Everyone,

New here but not new to Harley. I have had a 03 V-rod since 2005 and have put close to 20k milies on her. I am ready for something more comfortable. I also have a Suzuki V-Strom that I looking to trade in. Here is the question:

I found a 2009 Electra Glide Classic with 10,500 miles on her. It has a stage one upgrade with aftermarket exhaust and an upgraded air cleaner. Also has the tourpak (standard I think), heated hand grips, a USB phone charger, fairing pouches, a garage door opener, ABS and security options. I looked at it and the previous owner took very good care of it. The bike is extremely clean. The dealer is asking 16,900 for it. I am still negotiating trade value etc. But does this seem like a decent price? Keep in mind I am in the Washignton, D.C. area and everything is pretty pricey here, but looking at comparable bikes with similar options and mileage this doesn't seem too off to me. Thoughts?

Thanks

Jarhead

price check at kbb.com

check trade in and retail prices. ( 10.4k, 14.5k at my zip code)

I paid $15 for my 2009 FLHTC w abs/sec/cruise, premium paint

in 2010- it was 6 months old and had 18 months left on the warranty, 5000 miles

great deals are there if you hunt.

and cash in hand is a must...once you have to finance that rules out alot of bikes.

private sellers don't want to wait for you to figure it out.

so you end up at a dealer and paying a premium price and getting less for your old bike than you might selling it yourself.

add ons only have value if the buyer wants them, otherwise no

mike

Thanks Mike. Unfortunately, I will have to finance some of the cost. My two bikes even at a private sale probably wouldnt quite get me there. Thanks for the tips though.
