I could be relocating to Califonia in the next few months, and I am wondering do they check motorcycles for emissions? I have V&H power duals with Monster rounds, so I am wondering if I would need to re-install all of my old stuff? I have a 2013 ultra. Thanks in advance.

No emissions testing on motorcycles. DMV will check title, vin & engine #s and federal emission sticker. Not sure if they are looking for epa stamps on mufflers on '13up?

no.

there is no tailpipe emissions testing anywhere ( maricopa county, AZ phased out their program this year)

however, local noise enforcement could be a concern.

when you get there check with the local hog chapter, they'll know

some of the $$$$ towns can be ******, huntington beach, laguna, newport come to mind

I know that if you are a Calif resident you can't register a non-Calif bike with less than 7500 miles, not sure what the regs are if you're moving there. I thought somebody said they just left it regitered in previous state until they got the 7500 miles on it, would be good to check in with DMV before moving.

Yup, 7500k mile in order to reg. No need to switch out the exhaust. leave as is. Watch the throttle when riding through beach cities, ( if in socal ) you'll attract the decibel Gestapo

This 7500k mileage only applies to Calif residents buying a vehicle out of state then bringing it into CA. Here's the verbiage from the DMV regs.

NOTE:California law prohibits California residents or businesses from importing and/or registering a new vehicle with less than 7,500 miles at the time of purchase unless it meets or is exempt from California emission standards. If you acquire a 49-State vehicle (manufactured for all states except California) from another state or country, you may not be able to register your vehicle in California.

I would be moving there because of my work, and at the moment I have 7400 miles on my bike. Thanks for all the imput. I don't think that my Vance and Hines PD and monster rounds are much louder than my stock pipes are, that is unless I roll on the throttle, but even then its not as loud as my old Big shots that I had on my RK.

When moving in from another state, you can bring your ride in and have it registered here pretty easy.

You will need to take it to any DMV, or maybe even AAA if you are a member. They are most interested in proper VIN, and you will get a new plate.

You will need a Motorcycle addendum on your liscense. Should transfer over if you had it in your previous state.

Ride your bike with Indiana plate until it turns 7500 miles or more . I bought mine in Illinois brand new . rode it for a year 14,000 miles then get it registered .Also my advice Use only a DOT helmet .if you get stop ,like beating the red light or speeding .they will check Loud pipes + non DOT helmet will cost you around an easy $500 + your violation . good luck, .
