Been gone and working too much lately, but saw this thread pop up. I just had my 4.3 radio replaced under warranty, it apparently went totally berserk finally. I noticed that when I was going through the settings I now have the option for "rear controls" which I did not have before. However I only have a regular Street Glide with lighted hand controls and single rider comm cable and CB. Just thought I'd show you guys that it is now there and I am able to select it. I have no intention of adding a passenger intercom set.
The rear controls ON/OFF toggle turns on and off the second control at the passenger position on the Ultra. This is the toggle that allows skipping of tracks and changing radio presets. It has no effect on the other control (PPT/vol).
I was hopping that turning off the rear controls would allow the driver PPT/vol switch to control the rear. Not so.
My 2014 UK Street Glide came back from the dealer today. I now have Zumo 660 GPS, CB Radio and full Rider/Passenger intercom. ( using the 4.3 radio) The passenger intercom plugs into the rear speaker pod mounted on my 2013 detachable Tour Pak
Any updates on this? nuages, how did the dealer get it to work? Does the wiring harness on the SG have to be replaced or can you wire in a second wired connection for the passenger like NCBondsman did? Do you just need the switches from the 14 ultra to get it to work? Anyone have diagrams/instructions?
I think the issue with the rear headset speakers not working may be the lack of the PPT/vol switch like the ultra has. When I disconnect my tour-pak and then reconnect it, the passenger has to speak into her mic and push HER volume control up each time to turn her headset speakers back on.
I've been working on a passenger headset connection for when the tour pak is off. I've got a 7pin intercom connector wired correctly into the passenger headset wiring. The passenger headset speakers are off and there is no way to turn them up (which sounds like your issue as well).
I've ordered another passenger PPT/volume switch. I'm going to wire that into the appropriate spot on the passenger intercom wiring. My hope is that then the passenger will be able to turn on/up her headset speakers.
I'll post here my results. If this works, I suspect it will be your SG solution as well.
Hi. I'm new to the forum. This weekend I was at the dealership ready to buy a 2015 Road Glide Special. While going over the parts I wanted installed I was informed that there is no harness available for the passenger intercom. This is a dealer breaker for me, so I excused my self with the sales rep and went home to google options to solve the lack of passenger communication. Has anyone been able to find a viable workaround? Or knows when HD plans to come out with the needed harness? Thanks
