You stated two up and under 4k. 255 is the cam. You're in Tennessee, must be SMHD by chance? You will like the low end of the 255 cam in the hills and twisties, and the Dragon. This has been my experience on my last two touring bikes, and Tennessee riding.
If ya have a 103 do 204s. If they will put .030 head gaskets in for a reasonable cost do it. High ratio rockers will help some too (not sure enough to justify cost). Head work would be better than either. Proper dyno tune is the best thing ya can do for it. Sorry about being stuck with HD...
I am only interested in doing a bolt on cam. low to mid range power. I had SE 204 on my 2000 TC88 and liked the power. I also had the Stage 2 103/255 combo on my old 2008 Ultra and liked the low end torque it made. Loved the way it chugged up the long hills without downshifting. Hell, I think my Softail would outrun my Ultra in a dragrace but my newer Limited is just a 2up cruiser. If the SE 204 would have the same low end torque as the SE 255, I would no doubt install it.
My last bike was a 12 sg with the se 204's and a friend I rode with had a 12 sg with 255's. When we would play around his bike would stay with mine briefly in the lower rpm range and it wasn't long and the 204's would run away from it. The 204's was more fun to ride IMHO. I've heard the 222 are similar to the 204's. I may be the only one running 204's in a 14, no canned maps for it in my application, so far so good!
I've got SE204's in my ride and I'm very pleased with the results. Keep in mind, my 07 has slightly taller gearing than the later years. 6th gear is happy at all speeds beyond 65 mph and pulls well without downshifting and passes with authority in 6th at speeds beyond 70 or so. The additional benefit is how well it pulls to redline (6200). So let's see, great torque down to 2600-2700 rpm with a happy rpm charge to redline. This is in a 96 inch. With a 103 with slightly higher compression, the lower rpm torque characteristics would be even better.
Local dealership is having their annual winter cam install special. They suggest the SE 255 (dealership stated SE 255 is the same as used on 2014 103") for my touring bike for my riding style. 2up and rpms usually below 4K .I asked about the SE 204 and they said that they did not install many of them. I was surprised to here that since many forum members suggest the SE 204. Dealership also suggested the SE 259 for more aggressive riding. My question is about tuning. Dealership does not have a dyno so I would get download to my SEPRT. WILL THIS BE EFFICIENT? Dealship has other location that has dyno but stated most customers do not want their bikes on dyno.
Thanks
I would go with the SE204. It only has .508 lift and that is all the stock heads need anyway. The 259E has .579 lift which is a little more than I care to run on the stock springs. The 255 has .556 lift and very poor duration numbers to get the power up high. It is definitely harder on the starting. I don't think you will be riding below 2000 rpms and that is where the 255's beat the 204. I have been pleased by every 204 I had dealings with. Can't tell much difference between the 204 and 222. If you decide on the 204 or what ever cam and want a good map, send me a PM with your Email address and a description of your add ons and bike model and I will send you a map. I won't remember your details after I sleep a night or two. Main thing I need is the exhaust info. Can't send the SEPST map on the forum as it is too large. Can send PV VIA forum reply.

As a side note, SE255 is not the cam used in the 2014 bikes. Bugs me when they pass out incorrect information.

Two up, I'm 270# wife is..well lets say she complements me as well. Pulling out of Deals Gap store to ride back down the Dragon absolutely no problem. If you've been there you know what I'm talking about.
