I have the tweeter pod with hog tune speakers all around with no amp. I am happy with the sound, can hear it at 80+. It comes with a template to drill the holes with, easy peasy. Lots of riders out there dont think highly of hogtunes but for me, myself and I, it was a good investment, JMHO. Good luck with your sound system man.

While I don't agree with your love of Hogtunes....Welcome back home and thank you for your service.
I upgraded my speakers, following the wise advice of UltraNutz. He's a genius when it comes to audio. I went with Polk DB651 speakers and Soundstream amp. He advised that I wouldn't need the Hogtunes tweeters but I was stubborn and hardheaded. I had them painted to match my innerfairing and had them installed (put holes in my fairing). Perhaps they compliment a stock stereo/speakers but they do absolutely nothing with a higher end set up. Sure, they look nice but I really can't tell that they do anything. And, it's to late to remove them.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend anything made by Hogtunes. If you like your music loud and powerful, stay away from Hogtunes. While it's generally easy to install, you may not be impressed with the quality.
Oh well, you live and learn.
Theres no doubt theres always something better and newer when it comes to audio and everything else we modify on our bikes. I'm not always in love with my hogtunes but didnt give much thought about putting holes in my new painted inner fairing till now. You make a good point on quality music system. To late for me now have to live with it while its not the best its liveable.
I have the Hogtunes setup, adding the tweeter pod made a big difference in clarity and front fill. I wanted simple installation and hookup, and decent sound, thats why Hogtunes works for me.
I just installed the Polk MM6501's. I removed the air temp and oil pressure gauges and installed the tweeter's in their place. I'm VERY happy with the results!!
