Hey guys I installed my hogtunes amp and speakers on my SG this past weekend and I am curious about the tweeter pod. Anyone that has one what is your opinion and was the extra money and drilling holes in the dash worth it. Thanks I appreciate the input!
I had one on my SG, and I liked it. But I'm half ways deaf in one ear, so getting
all the noise I could above the hand controls/knuckles etc made it better for me in my situation.
Does it provide competition level audio? Nope, but that isn't why I decided to use it.. Mission accomplished for me.
I have it and like it a lot you lose so much of the mids and highs because of the stuff between the speakers and your ears that the tweeter pods are in your face. I know on here you are going to have a bunch of pros and cons but I like mine.
Thinking about getting them myself , so appreciate this input , got another question , any difference with the ones made by hog tunes (looks like mini dash) or the ones that mount into two lower gages . (Not sure who manufactured them) for I have a EGS and don't have those Gage's in dash.
I had one and hated it but some guys seem to like the tweeter pod.
Yup, this. Is this your 1st stereo upgrade? It won't take you long to figure out that you can do a whole lot better than Hogtunes, and then when you figure it out, you'll have holes in the inner fairing.
I upgraded my speakers, following the wise advice of UltraNutz. He's a genius when it comes to audio. I went with Polk DB651 speakers and Soundstream amp. He advised that I wouldn't need the Hogtunes tweeters but I was stubborn and hardheaded. I had them painted to match my innerfairing and had them installed (put holes in my fairing). Perhaps they compliment a stock stereo/speakers but they do absolutely nothing with a higher end set up. Sure, they look nice but I really can't tell that they do anything. And, it's to late to remove them.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend anything made by Hogtunes. If you like your music loud and powerful, stay away from Hogtunes. While it's generally easy to install, you may not be impressed with the quality.
