I bought one similar to the one in col flaggs post above, except that it is lockable. think i got it from J&P. Maybe all it did was replace the hinge with a spring hinge and still have the push button. cant remember for sure
It's really nice to not have to fumble around with a key to open it up.
I use to worry bout someone putting sugar, sand, etc. in my tank while traveling or while out with the boys having a cold one. I came to realize, If that was the case I might as well leave my bike in the garage and never ride it!
Never had a problem, knock on wood, but that's what my insurance is for.
Mike- sorry bout the bad luck with the two that broke on you.

Never had a problem with my HD one either. I've got the kind that still locks though.
Also, ANY barrel style key will open your tank lid. Just not the ignition, locking bags and tour pak. It doesn't have to be "keyed" to your bike. At least that's the case with my 05. I used to be able to open my tank lid with the keys from my softail.
I had the same problem. Did a little research with the resources I had at hand, found the solution, bought the part and installed it. Hmmmmm...get you a couple of catalogs, pard, suggest the P&A book from the MoCo, the dealership just cain't wait to GIVE you one, and the J&P catalog, they are free too...get 'em, get familiar with 'em, and you'll know what's available for your motorcycle!
I have the one from Kuryakyn on mine and have had it on 2 different bikes in the last 2 yrs with no problems. I prefer the flat contoured button on the Kury over the bubble button style the MOCO sells.
The push button cover was on the immediate list of changes on my last two Ultra's. I am happy to see it stock on the 14's. Never had anyone do anything to the bike with the lock removed.
