On the Street glide, you can just stick the plasma rods to the edge of the fender/filler strip as shown in CD's videos.
On the Limited, there is no such area to mount, hence the need for the fabrication of the brackets.
I know some with SG's also used the bracket method as well. Not having a SG, I couldn't say why other than perhaps they don't want to stick the 3M tape to their paint or looking for a more secure mount? Just guessing here.

Thanks. I did call CD and they said no fab needed.
CD has a turn signal kit, LEDs for front and rear. The kit will save you a few bucks over ordering the components separately. You can also add the rings to the kit if you so desire, and an LED taillight. I just ordered the kit, upgraded to the rings front and back and added an LED lay down taillight. CD makes good stuff and has excellent customer service.
I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a set of Dynamic Ringz in the front, and I'm going to go with a clear lens so the white shows through better, and I'm also going to go with the LED rear turn signals. Are you guys going with the clear lens for the rear, or sticking with a red lens? Which one will increase visibility the most? I would think the clear would allow more of the LED's brightness to shine through? But if the consensus is "stick with the red," are the stock red lenses OK, or would I need the CD ones? Opinions please...

For me, the idea of taping something to a flexible body panel on something that vibrates as much as these bikes do just didn't seem....well...a good idea.....
So when I saw the brackets...it was a done deal.
Whichever way you choose, you will love the rods, they really light up things in the back. Just using mine as brake and running lights. Also, I bought the quick connect adapter, makes things virtually plug and play.

I ordered the smoked lens for the front and rear. I have a daymaker head light which is smoked from harley so I wanted to keep the smoked look.

I ran the stock red lens covers on the back of my Street Glide. They were very bright with the red covers. I always got comments on how bright they were when buddies rode behind me.
For those that put them in, did you have to "trim" the gaskets in the housing as Custom Dynamics recommends? And if you did what was the easiest way?I put mine in with HD smoked lenses, but the lenses don't seem to "click in" and I'm worried they will work their way off. I looked at the tabs and they are the same as the original amber and red so I don't see a need to file them.

I used the HD clear lenses. I did not trim anything. The lenses dot SNAP but they haven't fallen off in 5 months.
