How do you Justify Cost

Did any of y'all see this commercial. An elderly grandfather was sitting with his grand kids telling them of the Harley that he wanted while as a young man. They asked if he bought it. He said, "No, we bought siding for the house instead." Hilarious, the point is, don't live life thinking, I wish I did...

I 100% agree. My grandfather was a tug boat Captain who worked hard for years. He always wanted a Cadillac or an Indian motorcycle. He died without either one and I decided that I won't let my dreams slip by. I work a boat load of over time and pay things off quickly. I say go for it while you can.

I usually finance some portion of my purchase that's why I like to put on the basic mods at time of purchase like pipes and lowers but its usually a 48 month loan and I make double payments that way its done in 24 months but the money doesn't change my life the rule of thumb is be sensible don't go in over your head don't take the mortgage money to buy a bike its common sense but you would be amazed at how many folks have no common sense when it comes to managing their finances.

Bought my first Harley when I was in my 20's and bitched about how expensive they were. Almost 68 now and nothing has changed. They're still expensive and still the most sold motorcycles. What can you do????

I'm in my early 60's.
Worked my butt off my whole life, worked two jobs and brought up 5 boys.
I have a beautiful home, a beautiful wife, 5 beautiful DIL's, and 4 beautiful grandchildren.
I am not rich, but I planned earlier in life for this time. I have no bills or CC debt.
I still work (only one job now) and have been at the same place for 30 years.
I made sacrifices my whole life to be where I am today.
It's ME time now and I'll buy what I want when I want it because I can.
That's why I can afford a touring bike.
Buy the trike (only if you can afford it) and don't look back.

If you can afford it....do it. Only you know what you can afford. I've been wanting a new bike now for a couple of years but with one girl going into college this year, I just can't do it. Plus, I love my 05, AND ITS PAID FOR!!!
As for justifying cost.... I've got two brothers (that don't ride) but they golf. Seeing what they pay for equipment, greens fees and annual membership at a private club, I'd say the 35K for a bike that will potentially last a lifetime is a bargain!!!!!!

My wife's back was to the point she wouldn't ride with me anymore on a two wheeler so I was not getting any saddle time in either mainly due to feeling guilty when I went out riding alone.
There is a point where you have to justify a purchase just for yourself.
If all of your normal responsibilities are being met why not enjoy a new toy etc?
Face the facts . We really are spending money on toys. No matter what you use a trike or bike for they are still toys .
I'm the poster child for buyers remorse myself but when you've worked all your life and get to the point where these things are within reach without shirking any any other obligations why the heck shouldn't one enjoy the extras?
