Just would like some of your thoughts on how you spend this kind of money on Hobby? I have had about 6 Harleys over past 20yrs so I have paid the price along the way....But this one has me waking at night with this purchase on mind!

Yes our motorcycle addiction can be expensive or at least as expensive as we allow it to be. Might make you feel better if you compare it to boating where you can really get into big money for fuel, bigger boat etc. That new trike you are looking at is expensive all right but spread out over x number of years maybe not so bad. Life is not a dress rehearsal you are only doing it once (as far as I know) so if you can buy the bike and your cash flow allows the payment I say go for it right now. Good call on wanting the waterhead I think that will pay off down the road.

I still work (only one job now) and have been at the same place for 30 years.

I made sacrifices my whole life to be where I am today.
It's ME time now and I'll buy what I want when I want it because I can.
That's why I can afford a touring bike.

Buy the trike (only if you can afford it) and don't look back.

You earned it enjoy

This is the wrong hobby to get into if you're concerned about 'the bottom line'. If that's important to ya, then maybe speculating in the stock market might be your thing. On the other hand, if you realize that every dollar you put into motorcycling is pretty much gone once you spent it, but that's okay with you, get 'er done... I've never had to ask myself anything like this question! If I could afford it, I bought it, if I couldn't, I didn't. So, don't work it to death, if you can afford it and can afford to ride your money instead of leaving it in the bank, you're golden...

I don't drink. I quit smoking 9 years ago. I don't cheat on my wife. I work hard. I'm not rich, but I find the time and money for whats important. That's how I justify it.

If it's important to you, make it happen.

If 10k was all I had to finance I'd probably own one now.

Credit Union money is cheap right now.

10k at 3% for 36 months in $291 a month and cost you $476 in interest.

As stated.... Hearses dont have trailer hitches and coffins dont have pockets. I owned a 2009 Triglide (Paid cash) but found I missed two wheels. (Trikes are a completely different animal). I traded it back to my dealer for a new 2012 Road King and the dealer paid me 'boot' so trikes are re-sellable.
I'd say go for it as long as you can afford it.

We work to make money so we can pay for our passions.
Like others have said be responsible and if you can afford it then go for it.

No, but the HD dealer does. Seriously if you can afford the payment, do it.

Is it the payment or the cash that's bugging you. If it's payment put it out to 2 years and rip extra on it. If it's the cash put less down stretch term a little and rip on the payment. It's a simple interest loan and rates are way low. I was about $10,000 short on my bike this year did a 3 year loan and paid it off in 2 months lol.
