Probably a bit too rich, but may be lean at other areas which is why a good tuner would benefit you.

12hdrk Now just where did you get that I said it was too lean at idle. Below is my post. If you leave the VE settings too near stock when you change cams it will be too rich. Stock runs in the 80's below 2000 and more over lap cams run from 70's to 50's depending on the overlap and other mods. I do agree with what you said other than the too lean part.

"My guess would be the tune is too rich at idle. Not familiar with the Fuel pack settings but any area below 2000 rpms is going to need to be 10 to 15% leaner than stock and the wide open area 5 to 15% richer above 2500 when wide open. You can also get sounds out of the breather with cams. It is actually on split over lap blowing back into the breather and will make sounds. Only does this at idle area and usually just when cold. If I knew more about the fuel pack may could help with settings."

It's all n the written interpretation and my punctuation. I said it was NOT lean, as you stated. So I agreed with you.

When my cams were installed, I heard the noises 12hdrk referred to, especially the knock although I only hear it at idle when the bike is cold. I finally got used to them and don't notice them anymore. The motor is just a different animal with aftermarket cams.

Thanks for the clarification. Reading comprehension is not always one of my strong points. I have a daughter that is an English teacher and she didn't get it from me.

2. check the pushrods to make sure they are not hitting the push rod tubes.
3. I would suspect that the setup is quieter in the cam area than you had before and you are now hearing other noises that may have been there but masked with other noises. If you are decel and hear the chain slapping, it sure sounds like primary chain slack. Have you check the tension on the chain/chain tensioner on your primary?
Yes, installed new cam chain tensioners. I am about to order a new power vision tuner. I figure it will allow me to get the most out of my cam upgrade. I just wish the weather would warm just a bit because I wanted to at least give the fuel pak a chance. Keep in mind the bike fired right up just like normal after the new cams were installed. The engine ran fine with no decel pop, stalling, or smoke. Throttle response was normal but the engine reved much faster and was still pulling hard in 6 th gear from 80 to 90 mph. It had never pulled like that before. I am convinced it was my primary and I think it is normal, I was just paranoid and riding with the radio off. I never ride with the tunes turned off, but being paranoid is somewhat normal.

IMO after spending nearly $800 on the Powercomamder 5 with an Auto tuner and having had a TTS master tune on an old bike. My 12 fltrx ran the best and got the most bang for my buck with the SE Race tuner (the non street legal version) and a $250 dyno tune at the dealer. I ran the 254e SE cams in my 103 and made over 100ftlbs it was fun and got out of the hole real fast. I would have saved a lot of money and hastle just buying the SE tuner right Out of the gate. The piggyback tuners are junk the '09 and newer computers arent built to work through a piggyback tuner so you're always half a step behind. For instance most of the piggyback tuners can't do anything about the auto compression releases or modify how the stock o2 sensors work. The SE race tuner can.

Just my option.

Default Update - tuner upgraded too

Well, after riding a few hundred miles on with the new cams and the fuel pak, I broke down and bought a PowerVision PV-2 from Fuelmoto. Bike ran ok on the fuelpak but felt like I wasn't getting the full benefit of the new cam upgrade. Flashed the tune tonight that Fuelmoto sent and setup the unit to try the auto tune as soon as the weather breaks.

Also changed all oils, and checked on that noise from the primary. I didn't think there was a problem but it had been 10k miles since installing the Hayden primiary chain tensioner and I was curious. Shoe looked good and I added a 1/16" shim to put a little more tension on the chain. Maybe quiten it down a bit. Putting a used fuelpak up for sale if all goes well.
