Default Seat Fitment differences on 2005 Touring

I let go of my 1996 EGC EVO and picked up a 2005 Road Glide with 10k. It has a removable King Tour pack with a unmatched back rest and came with a Pillow look Touring seat, much like on my EGC EVO. But the Pillow Look is pulled down to the fender, not mounted as it would be on a Tour Pack mount.

It pulls the butt rest back 1" further. Notice the passenger seat negative slope at the back rest.

HD has little advice other than buy a RG seat.

Question.

If one wants a fender mounted seat.... Solo Touring, 5,000 mile per year over last 10 years.

Is there a question in here?

The reason that it looks like the seat off of your old EGC is because it did come off of an EG. A Road Glide seat is a bit different and will sit the driver further back. The passenger pillion however, will be narrower.

That being said, I second what iams said. What's your question?

I am trying to figure out the passenger pillion mounted to the TP mount, never seen that before. Have seen separate rider/passenger seat assemblies so you can go solo but nothing mounted to the TP mount. My '03 and '12 both had one piece seats attached to the fender, same as I have seen on pre 2000 bikes.

What is he talking about???

Your 03 Anniversary have a removable TP?

He's Talking About - the seat screw going directly into the TP support, just like it does on an Electra Glide Classic (EGC) in 1996 and my wife's 2001 Electra Glide Classic EGC Trike Conversion.

Sorry you have not seen one. Must have tapped into the 'Not in my World" Chapter.

Yes there is a question. WTF did I bother coming back here for help.

Have a good Ride.

Seen a Road Glide or two in my day... Looking for an aftermarket tour seat. If by EG you mean an EVO Electra Glide Standard, your not quite correct. If it had a seat off an EG, then I would not have the issue. Yes, Road King, EG Standard and Road Glide seats mounted to the fender. This did not.

Again my Question, implied, is "Anybody have a preferred aftermarket Touring Seat to mount like a RK, EG , RG.

I already have a 'Captain Obvious" at my local HD Outlet.

Thanks

I am not understanding about the mounting question.
As far as I know all the seats for '97 - '07 FLH and FLT mount the same way. Slip in the front at the tank with a screw into the fender at the rear. The only difference I know of is the FLHR seats are shorter on the "snout" portion at the front as the tank console is longer.
Is there an aftermarket seat that attaches differently?
What is the advantage?

I still have my wife's fender off her 2001 FLHTCI and there is a fender screw hole. It appears to have never been used. The Installation kit for a Champion Sidecar Trike conversion done in 2005 for her 2001 FLHTCI had a TP mount with a seat attachment threaded hole in it AND THAT IS WHERE THE SEAT MOUNTS NOW.

The pic is of my 1996 EGC and shows, barely, the TP mount and screw location. Before your stated expertise, I know.

Look I am not interested in a 'Who knows more" contest. Just want to ask 'Anybody have a preferred touring seat to fit a 2005 Road Glide, CAUSE THE 2005 ROAD GLIDE I HAVE MOUNTS DIFFERENT THAN MY 1996 FLHTCI AND THE SEAT ON IT AIN'T RIGHT.

I'm a little confused, but I'll jump in. The 2005 road glide seat will mount to the fender (correct for your bike) and is fairly comfortable and somewhat low profile. The Electra glide seats of the same era will mount correctly as well, but are more "cushy" and imo look a little funny with the tour pak removed. Fwiw, any Electra or road glide seat from 97-07 will fit and bolt up correctly, the road king and street glide (as well as cvo Electra glide) seats are short nosed as these bikes have a longer tank panel. I hope this helps to answer your question....

So now you get to the question that you should have asked in the first post.

Well, my answer is...........................sounds like you know enough about bikes to do your own research. Captain obvious...out.
