Touring Bike
For those who owns a Street Glide, can you tell what don't you like about it or what's the bad thing about this model. I don't need to know the good thing or the good stuff like GPS and all that because dealers only tells you the good part.
TIA
You will probably change the shocks on the streetglide eventually. I think my streetglide was pretty nice looking. I changed lots of stuff. I did move most of the accessories over to the roadglide. And I will just say what most roadglide owners will say... This is the only bike I will ever tour on from this point forward. In my opinion nothing beats the roadglide ultra if you are going to rack up miles.
Pics of both bikes in my albums.

What do you guys (touring people) think?
-Originally wanted a RK Classic with leather bags. For a short time I owned an adventure bike with hard box cases and the convenience of being able to lock my luggage made me move to a RK with hard bags.
- Now that I was onto a RK with hard bags I began to think about how I like to ride on really cold days and started to think more about a fairing. I am getting older and like to be more comfortable... so I started to think about a street glide.
- Looking at the street glide I noticed that it is HD's top selling touring bike. They sell like hotcakes. I remembered the locking luggage and how on some of my longer trips how I filled the bags and had to strap stuff to the luggage rack and I thought wow I could add a tourpak to the street glide. Then I started looking at Electra Glides.
- Since I was in the used market it really stood out to me how much further my dollar would go on a used E-Glide than on a street glide. The street glide is more popular after all. However the E-glide has more equipment standard, particularly the tourpak!.
- In the end I went with the E-glide because I could always strip off the bits that I didnt want and go for the street glide look. Also the extra 1 inch of travel in the rear suspension put it over the top for me as I plan on loading this bad boy up with gear and traveling.
Either way they are all solid touring platforms... I would test ride all of them and think really hard about what is important from a features stand point. I included a pic of my dearly departed V-rod to close it out....
What do you guys (touring people) think?
Just my thoughts.
Are you looking for a brand new 2014 or pre owned touring bike?
Lots of good deals for the 2009+ frame changed motorcycles out there.
The stereo thing you are talking about will grow on you more then you think! It's a lot easier to turn one off when you want to, then not have one at all. As for air plugs, you can still listen to tunes with them on.
If I were you and in your shoes, and could handle riding your current bike for a couple more months till August and see what 2015 will bring. And then decide on a 2014 or 2015 model year. (Cheaper on a 2014, & you can see what's new for 2015)
In the meantime. Ride ALL the touring bikes you can, do your homework on each and be honest with yourself about what you want out of your new touring ride.
With a touring bike, you will find yourself riding further and exploring more and more.
Good luck,
YB
