OK, so I had a few beverages while I was reinstalling my exhaust system. I misread the torque wrench and cranked down on the exhaust flanges by 5 extra inch pounds (should have been 120----wrench was at 125).
Any big deal? Do I need to remove the gaskets and reinstall new ones.....again?. Will it F@ck up the studs coming out of the heads? can it crack the header pipe?
I shoulda just drank more and not worry about it....
5 inch pounds is a fraction of a foot pound, chances are most tourque wrenches we have in our garages are only accurate within a few foot pounds so no need to worry.
If you had stopped at 120 inch pounds I'm sure it wouldn't be exactly that.
I'll bet they loosen up on their own. They are something I check every 2 months or so anyway. The gaskets are only compressed an extra 5 inch lbs. Shouldn't be a big deal.
