The reason I wanted to go with the extensions is that I'm afraid I'll scrape them up too much and with extensions I can always take them off. I drag cornering now on my exhaust tips and sometimes on the floorboards and that's the reason I was looking at the bad dad 2" and the cvo cause they don't go down as far.
I'm running the Eastern CVO bags and my bike is lowered 1.5". I even made aluminum pads for the bottoms of the bags and I don't have an issue with scraping at all. I don't ride "spirited", but my floor boards hit on occasion......my bags never have.
Yup. All of the above. Go with the whole bag. You'll be glad you didn't get the extensions. Mine are 5" bags. Fairing Factory. See how they're kinda "scalloped" on the bottoms? If you ever scrape those things, you'll be having bigger problems than scraped bags. Extensions just look like extensions. Even if you get shorterbags that don't go down below the pipes, do you scrape your pipes? Just be careful when you back up to a curb, and you should be fine.

Where did you get those and how much did they set you back?
Hey guys,I just got my CVO styled extended bags by the company called V Twins.I read somewhere here that it's of good quality and worth the money. It's suppose to be the same ABS material that HD uses on the stock bags.Got the bags and rushed it down to my local painter to color match it to my bike(black denim) but he just couldn't get the right sheen.I also noticed that the bare ABs does have some very minor blemishes. Is there some way to prep the ABS first before you paint it?
I had AN extensions on my '99 RG and the "blend" bodywork always showed after a while. Redone twice. Maybe had something to do with scraping them all the time?? I think the eastern bags are a good choice. I may try them??

I have the extensions like 09Yellowbird. I like them as they have a rolled edge that matches the rolled edge of my SG facia. I have my SG lowered 1 1/4" and while I have never hit the corners while riding the twisty's, however, my buddies tell me I have come close. They were easy to install and look good IMO.
