The problem with the snaps is the plastic part on the lower has a flat face on them. I took a flat end punch, big enough to cover the rivet inside the back of the snap on the flap and flattened it a little. The plastic part of the snap on the lower does not have a hollow space in the middle for the rivet on the flap part of the snap to go into.
Take the flap off, place it on a piece of wood, face down, so it decreases the chance of denting the front of the snap. Take the punch and place it on the inside of the back of the rivet and give it a few hits with a hammer. Careful not to hit too hard and dent the outside, button side of the snap. This will flatten the rivet inside the rivet on the flap and then they are easier to close. I did mine and it worked well.
Then I bought the liners as well as the magnetic flaps a few months after that and have never had a problem again. The magnetic flaps and liners inside are great. If you don't feel like spending a little more money, they hammer and punch work very well.
I got some aftermarket locking doors, bought Harley locks to match my key and installed those with a little bit of reshaping and filing. I can keep wallet, sunglasses, ipod and other small items of value with no worries.
