For an '05 bike, thundermax is a great option and I love it on my '04. Go check out the ECM/Tuning board.

Why replace an ECM that works flawlessly?

Get a proper tuner, PV can auto tune, which I agree isn't a dyno tune, but if done right, is frikkin close to a dyno tune, keep the ECM you already have.

+1 on that. Put one on my 2005 about 3onths ago, runs better than any time in the past and I've had 3 different dyno tunes ( $$$ ).

It's true that nothing beats a dyno tune
Tough part is finding someone who will take the time and really knows your type of tuner you are running and what your engine combo is. I had 2 tunes done by highly recommended dyno operators and they ran no where near as well as with the Thunder Max.

And performing a dyno session on a bike will squeeze out the last little bit of horsepower from your bike compared to an auto-tune module. I would love for anyone to provide proof that a dyno will drastically out produce an auto tune module. The MOST I have seen from a dyno'd bike compared to an auto tuned bike is MAYBE 3-5hp/tq across the band. However, you sacrifice the real world adjustments of an auto tune compared to set values that come from a dyno.

For those who have never used auto tune (I have and just recently removed it), when the weather changes, the tuner changes as well. The difference is noticeable. It usually took the module a few miles to make the adjustments but once that riding period was done, the difference from the beginning of the ride compared to the auto tune adjusted ride is night and day.

Should I ever get too far away from stock on the '13 I will add the AutoTune to my PC IV. There are better options available

Power Commander Power Vision and Thundermax are some of the newer AutoTune modules and I believe both require using an 18mm wide band O2 sensor.

This statement is false.

I have both a PV on one bike and a tmax on the other. Had PV on both bike but recently divorced one bike in favor of tmax

Both bikes had been dynoed and were making good power. However one bike still had a flat spot down low which the tuner tried his best to mitigate however it just would not go away

Long story short. Tmax overcame issue and bike runs like it should. I've had a PCIII a V and a PV. And have been a dyno fan for years. Tmax only device that corrected my issue to date and this was after extensive dyno time. Trying to dial in PV I can't argue with results.
