Power Commander - Remove 02 sensors?
I just recieved a new Power Commander from Fuel Moto and was a little surprised it defeats the 02 sensors! Is everyone removing them? How is this thing running a fuel curve if it doesn't know how rich the motor is burning? Do you have to remove the 02 sensors for this unit to work?

Narrowband O2 sensors can only measure a small range around 14.7 A/F and the ECM only uses their feedback after the bike us up to operating temp and below approx 40% throttle and they are fairly useless from a tuning standpoint. The speed density EFI system on your bike uses several sensors and tables to determine fuel delivery and of them the O2 sensor is the most inconsistent.

the O2 sensoris a simple feedback sensor the EPA mandates for making sure the mixture is very lean in the cruise areaand has no bearing onadjusting for temp, altitude, humidity etc... The ECM uses the other various sensors most importantly the MAP sensor to calculate fuel requirements and is continually adjusting for these changing conditions.

I used the Cobra Fi2000 which leaves the O2 sensors active.
The bike runs fine and Cobra Customer Service is very helpful in making any final adjustments.

Installed PCIII last year. Had the same concerns about defeating the O2 sensors but...have nothing but good things to report. I know you can get plugs to replace them but, I'm fine with leaving them where they are. Plus, that leaves backup in place in case I have any PCIII problems.
