I am picking up my Limited on Monday and i was wondering if you can determine the build date from the VIN ?

I don't think the VIN can be that specific. VINs only provides mfg plant, model year, mid-year or regular introduction, specific model and engine type.

The dealer might have that info.

Don't think it can be done from the VIN. Tell the dealer you want the build sheet that goes along with the bike, I didn't get mine and found out too late it's usually included with the paperwork that's with the bike. Another way is to have the dealer, through his internal HD site, run the VIN and that will tell you the build date, they can get that info for you. Good Luck with the new bike, you're gonna LOVE IT!!!

Here in North Carolina it is called "certicate of origin" or COO.
Good luck.

You should be able to get the build date from the sticker on the front frame tube. At least that's where I got mine.

Maybe that has changed but the month and year of build is also on the manufacturers conformance sticker on the front frame tube of my bike.

The build date is located on the front downtube sticker on the primary side. Mine is an 11 model but it was born in July 2010, so its an EARLY release date or my bike.

The build sheet should come on the bike. Tell the dealer when they prep it to save it. It will tell you everything about the bike, including the date it was manufactured.
