The definition of a good deal is buying something you want at a price that makes you and the seller glad to do it. I've found that the bottom dollar ain't always the bottom line.
A couple of weeks ago, I was out riding with a couple of pals...one of them was talking about the great 2012 FLHX he was considering buying, and let me tellya, he was ready right then...I advised him that if he was ready, and the bike was available, maybe he should terminate our ride and go buy that sucker, since it was Friday, likely would be that floor traffic would be heavier on Saturday, he'd miss the deal. He decided to ignore my advice, and as you would have it, sure enough, he walked in the door to buy it the next day, and the new owner and the salesman were inking the deal for the bike he wanted to buy...
Lesson One...carpe diem.
A week later, he gets the fever again, and gets an Ultra, similar stats, for about the same amount of money, and for his riding style and riding with his wife like he does, the tour pack is a great thing to have...so, he got a better bike for the same amount of money...
Lesson Two: There are plenty of bikes out there...if you miss one, another is just down the road!
A friend of mine had a similar experience, many years ago. His local dealer had a brand new Norton 650 in the window, alongside a new Triumph. After weeks of pressing his nose against the window he went in with his money - to find the Norton, which was the one he really wanted, had a sold sticker on it. So he bought the Triumph.
A few days later a close friend visited, to show off his new - Norton - the same one! Many years later, when he could no longer ride, he sold his Norton to his/my friend, who keeps them in his garage, parked the same way they were in the showroom, when they were both new.
Dang!!!!!!!
Glad I am in Florida...I have a dozen Stealerships around me within a short drive.
Hope you get things worked out, I guess I consider myself kinda lucky than, since I have had great luck when getting my 3 bikes....Good Luck
